Privacy policy

How App Critic Weekly handles personal data.

Last revised: 2026-10-10

This policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit appcriticweekly.uk (“App Critic Weekly”, “we”, “us”).

1. Controller

The controller responsible for this website is the publisher named in our legal notice (name and postal address). Email: [email protected].

2. Our approach: as little data as possible

App Critic Weekly is a static website. We do not use analytics, advertising trackers, social-media plug-ins, tracking pixels, comment systems or user accounts, and we do not set cookies. Fonts and assets are served from our own server, so your browser does not contact third-party font or script providers when you read this site.

3. Server log files

When you open a page, our hosting provider automatically processes technical data that your browser sends: IP address, date and time of the request, the page requested, referrer URL, browser type and version, and operating system. This is necessary to deliver the website, keep it secure and investigate abuse.

  • Legal basis (GDPR / UK GDPR): Art. 6(1)(f) — our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functioning website.
  • Retention: log files are kept by the hosting provider for a limited period (normally no longer than 30 days) and then deleted or anonymised, unless longer storage is required to investigate a specific security incident.

4. Hosting

The website is hosted by Hostinger International Ltd. (“Hostinger”), which processes data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Servers may be located inside or outside the EU/UK; where data is transferred to countries without an adequacy decision, appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses are used.

5. Contacting us by email

If you email us at [email protected], we process your email address, your message and any data you choose to include, only to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). We delete the correspondence once it is no longer needed, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

Our articles link to external sites such as the Meta Quest Store, Apple App Store, Google Play and the official product websites. Data is only sent to those providers once you click a link. Their own privacy policies apply from then on.

7. Transfers to the USA

Our publisher is based in the United States. When you contact us, your message is processed in the USA. We take reasonable measures to protect it and only use it to answer you.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR / UK GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Contact us at [email protected] to exercise them.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in the UK the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), in the EU the data protection authority of your member state.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. You may request access to or deletion of personal information we hold about you via the email address above.

9. Children

This site is aimed at a general adult audience and does not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes

We may update this policy when our website or the law changes. The current version is always available on this page.
